Directed by Priyadarshan, this film features the Hera Pheri hit combo Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal. The supporting actress includes Katrina Kaif, Neha Dhupia and Sameera Reddy.

Nitin played by Akshay Kumar and Ram played by Suniel Shetty are two guys who are lucky in love as they have their girlfriends Anjali (Katrina Kaif) and Manpreet (Sameera Reddy) respectively. However, both Nitin and Ram are broke and hardly have any money to survive. Their girlfriends have given them an ultimatum that they need to earn loads of money so that they can run away and get married. Desperate, Nitin and Ram are trying various ways to earn money quickly.

They plan to kidnap Moolchandji who is a spoilt dog of rich brat. But the dog runs away, and the police think it’s Nitin who’s been kidnapped. As the guys try to get their hands on the ransom money, they encounter many funny characters like a Don, an officer, a club dancer, an ambassador, an assassin, a frustrated wife, waiter etc. All this leads to utter chaos and confusion which is what entertains the audience.

The music for De Dana Dan has been given by Pritam and the lyrics are penned by Sayeed Quadri, Neeraj Shridhar, Irshad Kamil and Ashish Pandit. Songs like Paisa paisa, Sab rishte naate and Baamulaiza have been a hit amongst the crowd. De Dana Dan is produced by Ratan Jain who has earlier produced many big budget films. The promos of this film are already liked by many and hope so the movie too is liked!

Directed by Raj kumar Hirani, forthcoming and much awaited film 3 idiots stars Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor, and Boman Irani in pivotal roles. Kajol too will make a special appearance in the film.

Loosely based on the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat, Three Idiots is a film that narrates the story of three friends whose dismal CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) at their college influence their lives, their friendship, their romance and career choices as well.

Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 3 idiots is much awaited because not only is it based on a successful novel but also stars a great combo. Moreover, Aamir’s presence in the film gives it a great credibility too. Shooting for this film began in July 2008. ‘3 idiots’ is shot in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ladakh and Shimla. In fact, Hirani has shot at the Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore.

The music of the film has released and two songs ‘Aal izz well’ and ‘Zoobi Doobi’ are particularly liked by many people. The music of the film is composed by Shantanu Moitra and the lyrics are penned by Swanand Kirkire. ‘Jaane Nahin Denge Tujhe’ is a slow number which is also liked by some. ‘Behti Hawa’ and ‘Give Me Some Sunshine’ would be acclaimed only after the film’s release.

Film critics have already said that 3 idiots is one of the top most awaited films of 2009. However as one can never be sure of box office collections, one needs to wait and watch for the movie release to actually comment about the film.

Staring Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Kurbaan is a product of dharma productions directed by Rensil d’Silva. Kurbaan has been treated differently than most mainstream Hindi cinema and Rensil has sure taken the subject to a new level with his style of visual expressionism. Kurbaan is primarily a romantic film with a backdrop of terrorism.

Kareena is a professor in NewYork who returns to his ailing father in India where she meets Saif who is also a professor. Kareena falls in love with Saif who is a Muslim and much against her father’s will, she marries him. Kareena also finds a job for Saif there. Kareena meets their neighbors the next day who are hard core muslims. Then it’s Nauheed Cyrusi who comes to meet Kareena to tell her that her life is in trouble. This leaves Kareena troubled and what follows is something that leaves you with adrenaline running high. What I particularly like about Kurbaan is that either way, Rensil’s film looks at the theme of Islamic terrorism with honesty.

The music is given by music duo Salim Suleiman and the lyrics are penned by Irfan Siddiqui. I would particularly like to single out two songs Shukran Allah’, which comes in the beginning of the film and ‘Ali Maula ’which comes just before the climax.

The core of the movie is three characters – the terrorist played by Saif, his pregnant and rebellious wife played by Kareena and the journalist played by Vivek. All the three characters take the story forward. Vivek has played his character with sheer brilliance. Saif could have been better especially in intense career-defining events and Kareena is outstanding in her role. All in all, Kurbaan is a serious gritty romantic thriller that satiates your senses.

Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is one of the most awaited films of 2009. Directed by Shimit Amin of Chak De India fame, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year has its first look released. The film is produced by Yash Raj Films and the screenplay is done by Jaideep Sahni. Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, the film also stars Sharon Prabhakar and Gauhar Khan who play pivotal roles in the movie. The film also stars Shazahn Padamsee, daughter of Alyque Padamsee who is making her debut in this film. This film is set to release on the 11^th of December, 2009.

Considering that Ranbir Kapoor has already had two hits this year namely Wake up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year has that star power to pull the audience. Moreover, Ranbir’s look in the movie is much talked about and the film’s first look sure promises us with something different that the usual. Apart from Ranbir’s fame, it is director Shimit Amin whose credibility is already established with the success of Chak De India. Besides this, the film is produced by Yash Raj banner which gives it a strong backing.

Rocket Singh is a character who is sometimes thoughtless, sometimes thoughtful kind of a guy. This is the story of a fresh graduate who usually faces this problem of trying to find a balance between the crazy demands of a professional life and the way of his heart. In doing so, he comes upon a crazy way which turns his world and his career. Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year sure seems to be a promising film and if this film is a hit at the box office, then it will be a hatrick for actor Ranbir Kapoor.

There were many awaited films in the year 2009. Although some films did manage to be successful, some directors couldn’t succeed at the box office. Due to the multiplex strike, there were a lot of films that were accumulated. There were two to three releases every week. This could have been one of the reasons for some of the films to be unsuccessful at the box office.

One of the biggest flops of 2009 is ‘What’s Your Raashee?’ ‘What’s Your Raashee?’ was a much awaited film however it could not do well at the box office because of its length. The film was three and a half hour long and it had 12 songs. Movie goers today avoid lengthy films because all of us today are short of time. Today’s audience wants maximum entertainment in minimum time. Moreover, the story became dull and boring and repetitive after the initial hour. Even though this was the first time that any character has ever played 12 roles in a film, the character were not established properly because how much can you explore 12 characters even in three and half hours.

Another film which was a super duper flop was Aladin. This film had invested nearly 70 crores but it could hardly recover anything. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, this film invested a lot on special effects but this film’s target audience was not clear. Also, the story of the film wasn’t appealing enough to hold audiences attention. Such big budget films going flop are a big hit to the film industry.

Paa is one film whose poster itself speaks a thousand words. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan and it is for the first time that Amitabh Bachchan will star in a film as a child. The film is directed by R Balakrishnan who earlier directed Cheeni Kum again with Amitabh Bachchan starring opposite Tabu. Ilaiyaraaja, the famous south Indian maestro has composed the music for this movie.

Paa is a story of a thirteen year old boy Auro (Amitabh Bachchan) who is intelligent and witty. However he suffers from Progeria, which is an extremely rare genetic disorder where symptoms resembling aspects of aging are manifested at an early age. Auro lives with his mother Vidhya (Vidya Balan) who is a gynecologist. Amol Arte (Abhishek Bachchan) is Auro’s father who is a young idealistic politician. Amol wants to prove to the world that ‘politics’ is not a bad world. Paa’s tagline says “a rare son father father son story’ and indeed it is. The story revolves around the relationship between Amol and Auro.

Apart from the star power of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, Paa is a subject that is so strong by itself. It is intriguing to see Amitabh Bachchan act like a 13 year old. There is already so much curiosity build around the movie that people are dying to watch the film. To me, Paa seems to be the most promising film of 2009.

Director by Alfred Hitchcock, the main outline of the film is that a tennis star (Guy Haines) want to divorce his wife and marry his girlfriend. Guy then accidentally on a train meets a psychopathic man named Bruno Antony. Bruno tells the tennis player about an amusing idea where they could exchange murders and in this way no one would be able to suspect both of them. Guy however takes it as a joke but Bruno is serious and murders Guy’s wife. He then pesters Guy to kill his father but he gets caught in the end.

The film weaves some interesting elements together to make it like a conundrum that the viewers try to solve. Every time that you see the film, you will discover some element that the director has used as an element to support the theme of the film and this special technique indeed adds on to the “thrill” aspect of the film.

For example, since the main theme of the film is “exchanging murder”, the director has used several clues right in the beginning of the film that indicates the crisscrossing of murders. These elements are: a lighter that has tennis rackets crisscrossing each other, the rail tracks crisscross each other, Guy and Bruno’s legs crisscross as they sit in the train, Guy plays a tennis match in doubles, etc are some of the hints that Hitchcock puts across the viewers in order to build the story and create suspense in the minds of the viewers.

Through number of puns and visual metaphors and the unusual ideas human minds cultivate, Hitchcock has been successful in thrilling their audience.

After the success of Wake up Sid, Ranbir starrer Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is one of the most awaited films of this year. This romantic comedy has already impressed the audience with its new stylish promos. Moreover, Ranbir and Katrina make a great pair.

 This movie has a simple storyline. Prem has one motto in life which is to be happy and make everyone around him happy. On the other hand Jennifer/Jenny played by Katrina Kaif longs to love and be loved in returned. Thus both of them seem to lead simple lives with their simple goals. But the twist comes in when these supposedly simple goals turn into disasters for Prem and others. Later, due to a mistaken identity, Prem kidnaps Jenny and tries to pull a fast one over her father. However jenny has indifferent and uncaring parents. And it was love for Jenny that made Prem an evolved person. He begins to work hard to make money.

 Later Prem falls so much in love with Jenny that he does everything to make Jenny happy. Jenny on the other hand was so much in love with the idea of being in love that she was blinded by the reality that her true love was Prem. This movie is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi who is directing a romantic comedy after a long time.

 The music of the movie is given by Pritam and the lyrics are given by Irshad Kamil and Ashish Pandit. The songs of this film have been extremely popular especially Tu Jaane Na sung by Atif Aslam and Tera Hone Laga Hoon by Atif Aslam, Alisha Chinoy. Other songs like Prem Ki Naiyya, Main Tera Dhadkan Teri and Oh my God have also been liked by many.

Featuring the real life couple, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Kurbaan is a film set against the backdrop of global terrorism which is directed by Rensil D’Silva and produced by Karan Johar. The film also features Vivek Oberoi who is a journalist and Dia Mirza who is a reporter.

 Avantika Ahuja (Kareena Kapoor) lives in the US but because her father has a cardiac arrest she returns to Delhi where she meets Ehsaan (Saif Ali Khan), a Delhi University Professor. They fall in love, get married and move to the US.

 After moving there, Avantika realizes that Ehsaan is a terrorist who married her only to cover his identity. Avantika finds out that Ehsaan plans to hijack a flight and one of the passengers on that flight is a journalist (played by Vivek Oberoi). Kurbaan becomes an important film for Kareena Kapoor because after Main aur Mrs Khanna’s poor box office collection, she needs a hit to maintain her position which this film can provide her. Saif also for a change would be seen in a different avatar and not playing his usual confused but cute kind of character.

 This movie is shot in Philadelphia and in Brooklyn. Kurbaan has some refreshing sound tracks. The music is given by Salim – Sulaiman. I love all the songs of the film which are Shukran Allah sung by Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Salim Merchant, Dua by Sukhwinder Singh, Kailash Kher, Marianne D’Cruz Aiman , Ali Maula by Salim Merchant, Rasiya by Shruti Pathak, Kurbaan Hua by Vishal Dadlani and the remixes as well.

 Now everyone is awaiting the upcoming movie London dreams that stars actors Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan and Asin. The film is directed by noted filmmaker Vipul Shah and the music is given by famous music composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

 Since the movie is about a band the songs are rock music inspired so that they can match the story of the film. Songs of the movie which have featured recently are “Khanabadosh” which is my favorite as well.

 The story of this film is about two childhood friends Arjun (Ajay Devgan) and Mannu (Salman Khan). Both of them have some connection through a music lineage in their family. Arjun has always dreamt of being a stage performer as he wanted to fulfill his grandfather’s ambition while on the other hand, Mannu has little interest in making it big and is happy being a simpleton.

 Thus we have Arjun on one side who is diligently pursuing his dream and on the other we have Mannu who is happy with the way he is be trying to make his livelihood by playing as a wedding band performer at the village back in India. Arjun leaves his uncle and finally makes it to London which he feels is the place which will help him to realize his goals.

 Arjun creates a band with two brothers who have duped their relatives in Pakistan to travel to London in pursuit of their musical aspirations. The band also consists of Priya (Asin), who is a music enthusiast from a conservative South Indian family. Mannu is however shown at this stage to. Now Arjun invites Mannu to London to be a part of the band.

 When Mannu arrives he is totally a charmer and a entertainer. He thus becomes popular with the audience with his unique style of performing. Now Arjun starts feeling envious of Mannu. Even Priya starts sensing that she is developing a soft corner for Mannu. Now when the band travels across Paris, Rome and Amsterdam, Arjun deceives Mannu in case of drugs. Later the band heads to London to perform in front of a huge audience, the viewer is told that Arjun’s grandfather had failed before a similar audience. Mannu thus comes to senses and supports his childhood mate Arjun.
