Acid Factory – Movie Review

Acid Factory has been released recently and I must say movie has wonderful action and thriller sequences. The editing of the movie is up to the point and movie has a very sharp edge. Bollywood seems to have come of age with this movie. The twists in the movie leave you breathless and you are left asking for more. Actions scenes have same class as that of Hollywood movies. Screenplay is quite edgy and this movie definitely deserves more than what it got. Acid Factory works in three layers of past, present and future and all of them are seamlessly integrated. Other aspects like direction, screenplay, editing, sound and cinematography are surely praiseworthy. The movie has been produced by Sanjay Gupta and as we know him, he has kept giving us sharp and stylish action flicks. Movie clearly bears his trademark style.

Acid Factory has been directed by Suparn Verma and he has done a commendable job. The story revolves around a simple kidnap but that’s the beauty of the movie. There are numerous intriguing plots within and they have been managed well. I must mention name of action director, Tinu Verma who has definitely set a benchmark. The movie has been extensively shot in picturesque location of South Africa and that explains beautiful cinematography work displayed in the movie.

The movie stars Fardeen Khan, Dia Mirza, Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Dino Morea, Aftab Shivdasani and Danny Denzongpa. All the actors have performed reasonably well and each character sketch is well defined. There is no over-lapping of characters. Fardeen Khan and Dia Mirza have done well in lead roles. Just a word of caution;. While you watch the movie, keep alert at all times else you might miss a vital link.

Final Destination – Review

Final Destination is an excellent thriller with shockers and twists here and there which keep horrifying you.
Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) is portrayed as an average high-school student when in completely opposite. He gets visions about the future happenings. His first vision is that the airplane he and his French class mates are going to board is going to blow up. He insists on getting off the plane but class jock Carter (Kerr Smith) starts fighting with Alex. This right away gets them escorted off the plane. Soon after one more fight between Alex and Carter, all of them witness the blast of the plane and consequently are traumatized into silence.

The villain of this movie is death itself. And the final destination of the villain is to kill every one of them and leave no survivor.

One exceptional part in this movie is the great profundity of the death scenes. They were much more detailed and unusual than other teen horror films that merely spurt blood. Some drawbacks with this film are that the actors portraying 17-year-olds don’t seem to be realistic; as they look older and quite perfect as compared to messy teens.

The superior thing about this film is the illustrative intellect of director James Wong. He knows where to place in a fright or death scene when the viewers least imagine it. However, the ending could have been much better.

This movie is more of a theatre flick because the fright scenes and horror works better in the dark and on the big screen than back home. So take this chance and get scared, it’s worth your bucks. If you have enjoyed watching the previous parts, this part won’t let you down for sure. So quickly buy your tickets and watch this frightful thriller which is a total paisa vasool movie!

Upcoming films

Due to the multiplex-producer strike, there are two to three films releasing every Friday. And the upcoming Fridays as well, there are many interesting films lined up. One of them is London Dreams directed by Vipul Shah. This film was earlier suppose to be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi but now it is Mr. Shah who has changed the script completely and made London Dreams. However, Vipul Shah has not signed his favorite hero Akshay Kumar in the same. This time it is Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan.

Another film that has spent a lot on special effects and now awaits its fate on Friday 30th Oct is Aladin that stars none other than Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Ritesh Deshmukh. Actress Jacqueline Fernandes will also make her debut in this film. This film is directed by Sujoy Ghosh whose first film Jhankar Beats was a big hit however, his second film Home Delivery was a disaster at the box office. The director has left no stone unturned to make this film and hopefully all the hard work will pay off at the box office.

And the next on the list whose songs are always a hit amongst the crowd is Emraan Hashmi’s Tum Mile. Tum Mile is a film that is based on Mumbai floods and is directed by Kunal Deshmukh whose previous film Jannat was a huge success. Quintessentially, ‘Tum Mile’ is a love story revolving around Emraan and Soha Ali Khan set against the backdrop of Mumbai floods.

Here is one film whose sleek trendy promos have been the talk of the town and that is Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani featuring Ranbir and Katrina together. A lot of people are excited about this romantic comedy and a lot of expectations are set on Rajkumar Santoshi whose previous film Halla Bol was a flop.

One film that is hot on the list is Madhur Bhandarkar’s Jail. ‘Chandni Bar’, ‘Page 3’, ‘Corporate’, ‘Traffic Signal’ and ‘Fashion’ – all these films have been a huge hit amongst they crowd especially because of the neorealist element in these films. And one more that we add to this list is Jail featuring Neil Nitin Mukesh. So waiting for these films to hit the box office after which we will feature the reviews for the same.

Jail

Madhur Bhandarakar has always told real stories and how! And that is exactly what is expected out of Jail – a real stark hard hitting film.

Jail features Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mugdha Godse and Manoj Bajpai. Neil lays the protagonist Parag Dixit who is living a peaceful life with his wife Mansi (played by Mugdha Godse). However, his life takes a unpleasant twist and he ends up in a jail because of some unfortunate events. The film then flashes the cruel realities faced by prisoners in Indian jails by focusing on Neil’s life in the jail. Manoj Bajpai and Arya Babbar play another inmate in the jail.

A lot is expected out of Jail considering the past record of Madhur Bhadarkar who has made meaningful cinema with Page3, Fashion and Traffic Signal. Also, with Neil’s acting skills being appreciated in the film New York, success of Jail will only add to his standing in the industry. Mugdha who plays Neil’s wife has a small but an important role to play.

The music is composed by Sharib Toshi and Shamir Tandon and the lyrics are by Ajay Garg, A.M. Turaz, Sandeep Nath and Kumaar. Music is not given a lot of importance in the film but there are a few tracks forth mentioning here which are Saiyaan ve sung by Toshi, Milke Yun Laga by Sharib again and Bareily Ke Bazzar Mein sung by Sonu Kakkar and Shamir Tandon. All in all, Jail seems to be a promising hard hitting film.

‘Radhe’ Magic Works

Did Shakespeare once say, What’s in a name? Well, unfortunately i will have to agree because here I am talking about name Radhe. This one word surely means a lot in Salman Khan’s film career. Whenever he has been found down in the dumb, this name has rescued him twice. Fans have also come to associate this name with Sallu Bhai.

If we go back to previous decade, Salman was having some amazing chemistry with the name Prem that worked so well for him in Sooraj Barjatya’s movies. Remember, Maine Pyar Kia, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Hum Saath Saath Hain? All three were super-duper hits and all of them had Salman in lead roles with the name Prem. Quite a lucky name for him, huh? The name Prem revealed his soft side, his image of a lover boy and nedless to say, it just by chance or design but yeah, it worked for him.

Prem gave way to Radhe when he had this name in blockbuster Tere Naam. In fact, such was the popularity of that character and its hair style that even today, males can be found with characteristic middle parting hair style that Salman wore in that movie. This hairstyle is still known as Radhe Hairstyle. The interesting thing is before the release of Tere Naam, Salman was going through some torried time both personally as well as professionally. He had given string of flops including Yeh Hai Jalwa, Tumko Na Bhool Payenge, Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye and Chal Mere Bhai etc. Tere Naam broke the jinx and Radhe worked.

This time again, Salman was going through string of flops like Baabul, God Tussi Great Ho, Yuvraaj and Salaam-E-Ishq when Wanted happened. This movie has truck gold mines at the box office and no prizes for guessing, his name in the movie is Radhe again. Hopefully, Salman continues his successful journey with London Dreams and other movies.

Tum Mile

Directed by Kunal Deshmukh of Jannat fame, this film features Emraan Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan in lead roles against the backdrop of the July 2005 Mumbai floods. Soha Ali Khan and Emraan Hashmi are coming together for the first time and they sure make a great pair.

Tum Mile is about two people who meet after six years when they have an encounter on a flight to Mumbai. The story oscillates between the past and the present of two people who are very different to each other. Both of them are forced to stick together as Mumbai gets destroyed due to the floods.

The film also shows how people are struggling their way through a stormy night in Mumbai and how everyone helps each other in such times of despair.  As both become emotional, they realize that there is more about each other than they knew in all those years of being together. They realize how unpredictable life is and thus grow fond of each other and decide to make the most of the time they have on hand.

Like all Emraan Hashmi films, Tum mile songs have been very popular amongst all age groups. The songs are composed by Pritam and lyrics are given by Sayeed Qadri and Kumaar. The title track Tum Mile sung by Neeraj Shridhar is fabulous. Dil Ibadat by K.K is also a fabulous romantic track. Other songs are also quite melodious and soothing.

Hera Pheri 3 And Big B

Priyadarshan has given numerous comical hits to the bollywood. Despite all the superb comedies like Hulchul, Hungama, and recently released Billu, he is still known for movie that signalled his arrival as hit comedy director. Yes, I am talking about Hera Pheri. It was a huge hit and this movie was a landmark and tide-turner for many stars including Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty. Akshay and Priyadarshan thereafter worked in few more movies and they got good success working together. Akshay’s carrer got a new lease of life with Hera Pheri and he found his niche in comedy capers. No wonder, today he is knonw as King Singh of the Bollywood giving a tough challenge to monopoly of Khans and Bachchans.

Hera Pheri 2 did not have Priyadarshan at its helm and yet this one also proved to be a huge success. Now the buzz in the town is of Hera Pheri 3 and 4. It will be directed by Director Anees Bazmee who definitely has a great track record as a director. Who can forget his last laugh riot Welcome? The rumours are rife that the sequels will have Big B along with usual suspects Akshay, Sunil Shetty and Paresh rawal. There is a strong role written for Amitabh’s character and it will be fun to watch how he fares in this successful franchisee.

It will be an interesting development as Big B has not worked in a comedy since long. So expectations have already started to build up with this announcement. Let’s see how it pans out.
